School Buses to be axed
The children and their parents love the Pegasus service. Parents can go to work knowing that their children will arrive at school safely and on time. The County Council reckons it can't afford it. The fact that this is an important and much needed service doesn't concern them.    more

Severe criticism of the County Council
The Tory-controlled County Council was given the lowest possible ratings by the Audit Commission for adult and children's services. The interim chief executive wrote a damning report criticising the management and leadership. It could and should have been discussed in the May elections.  Why was it deliberately suppressed?       more

Bad roads and terrible road contracts
In spite of overcharging and poor work by its 2 highways contractors, The County Council was planning to extend their contracts. After massive public criticism it appears they may look for new contractors. Not before time! more

Troubles ahead for Spectrum?
Currently regarded as the most successful local leisure centre in the country, the council is now indicating that it will not be able to meet its financial commitments in the future. It is proposing to privatise it. How has it let things get into this sorry state? It is not good news for either the users or the employees.

Dunsfold Park
This imaginative new eco-village on the airfield, that would have provided 910 new affordable homes, parkland for leisure use and be environmentally sustainable will not go ahead.
  The local Tory MPs spoke AGAINST more affordable housing there.  more
